Shelly Park School Hosts Vibrant Colour Fun Run 2025
The 2025 Colour Fun Run at Shelly Park School in Auckland, New Zealand, brought together students, families, and local community members on March 15, 2025. The event aimed to promote physical activity and foster community spirit while raising essential funds for school projects and resources.
The fun run featured a vibrant atmosphere, with participants doused in brightly colored powders as they completed the course. Over 500 participants registered for the event, which was designed to be inclusive, welcoming individuals of all ages and fitness levels. Families and friends cheered on the runners, creating a lively and supportive environment throughout the day.
In addition to the run, the event included various activities, such as face painting, music, and food stalls, enhancing the festive experience. Local businesses contributed to the event, providing sponsorship and prizes for participants. According to the school principal, Linda Thompson, the Colour Fun Run serves as a valuable opportunity for families to engage with the school community while supporting important educational initiatives.
Funds raised from the event are earmarked for enhancing school facilities and extracurricular programs. Last year, the Colour Fun Run generated over $30,000 NZD, and the school hopes to exceed that amount this year. “Every dollar raised goes directly towards improving our students’ learning experiences,” Thompson stated.
Volunteers played a crucial role in the run’s success, assisting with registration, managing water stations, and ensuring the safety of participants along the route. Many volunteers were parents and older students, showcasing the strong sense of community that characterizes Shelly Park School. One volunteer, Mark Roberts, expressed his enthusiasm: “It’s great to see everyone come together for such a fun cause. The kids have a blast, and so do we!”
As the event concluded, participants celebrated their achievements, many posing for photographs to capture the colorful memories. The Colour Fun Run not only promotes fitness but also strengthens community ties, making it a cherished annual tradition for Shelly Park School and its surrounding neighborhood.
With plans already underway for next year’s event, the school aims to create an even more inclusive and engaging experience for participants. The Colour Fun Run has become a highlight of the school calendar, reinforcing the importance of physical health and community support in the lives of students and families alike.
