The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is set to kick off a nationwide celebration leading to the **2025 Special Olympics National Summer Games** in **Christchurch**, scheduled for **December 11 to 13**. This event aims to promote inclusion, raise awareness, and support individuals with intellectual disabilities. A Celebration of Inclusion and Partnership
**Acting Senior Sergeant Ashleigh Smail** of the **Invercargill Police** highlighted the importance of the event in fostering community connections. “The LETR is a fantastic opportunity for police to connect with our community and support these inspiring athletes as they prepare to represent **Southland** on the national stage,” Senior Sergeant Smail noted.
The event will also feature an address from **Penny Simmonds**, an Invercargill MP and Special Olympics patron, who has been invited to share her thoughts before the run.
