Al Sadd and Al Rayyan Claim Victories in Qatar Basketball League
In an action-packed evening in Doha, Qatar, the 2025-2026 Qatar General Basketball League showcased two thrilling matches on the second division schedule. Both Al Sadd and Al Rayyan emerged victorious, reinforcing their positions in the league with impressive performances against Al Gharafa and Al Arabi, respectively.
Al Sadd Dominates Al Gharafa
Al Sadd demonstrated its intent to challenge for the top league standings by defeating Al Gharafa with a convincing score of 98-77. The match began with both teams displaying a strong balance between offense and defense, but Al Sadd’s focus was evident from the start.
After a narrow first-quarter win of 19-17, Al Sadd maintained its momentum. The team relied on quick transitions and accurate shooting to secure a second-quarter victory of 25-19, heading into halftime with a comfortable lead.
The third quarter proved pivotal, as Al Sadd seized control with a dominating performance, winning the period 27-16. This decisive stretch widened the gap sufficiently to challenge Al Gharafa’s ability to mount a comeback. Despite Al Gharafa’s improved effort in the final quarter, which ended 27-25 in favor of Al Sadd, the leader held firm until the final buzzer.
On the individual front, Al Gharafa’s Joshua Caron Lee Holl stood out as the match’s top scorer, netting 30 points. Meanwhile, Malik Antonyo Toppin led Al Sadd’s scoring efforts with 27 points, playing a crucial role in securing the victory.
With this win, Al Sadd now holds 15 points and sits in third place, while Al Gharafa remains in seventh with 11 points.
Al Rayyan Triumphs Over Al Arabi
In the second match of the evening, Al Rayyan continued its strong form, defeating Al Arabi with a score of 106-87. This encounter was marked by rapid transitions and intense competition throughout.
Both teams displayed impressive offensive capabilities, with Abdulrahman Abdulhalim from Al Arabi and Malik Romero Carey from Al Rayyan each scoring 24 points, showcasing their scoring prowess.
This victory allowed Al Rayyan to climb to the top of the league standings with 17 points, while Al Arabi remains in second place, holding 16 points.
As the season progresses, both Al Sadd and Al Rayyan are establishing themselves as formidable contenders in the Qatar General Basketball League, setting the stage for an exciting remainder of the season.
