Thrilling Finale in Doha Marks Third Round of Freestyle Drifting Championship
The third round of the 2025-2026 Freestyle Drifting Championship concluded in Doha, Qatar with an electrifying display of skill and competition. Organised by the Qatar Racing Club, the event attracted a record audience, showcasing the growing popularity of this motorsport.
Competition Highlights and Results
Over the course of three days, drivers competed fiercely for top honors in a series of precision drifting maneuvers. The event lasted approximately three hours, culminating in a dramatic finish. Saud Al Marri, who had previously finished as runner-up in both earlier rounds, secured his first title of the season by achieving the highest points in this round.
Rashid Al Banna celebrated his first podium finish of the season by taking second place, while Abdullah Al Qahtani, the champion of the previous two rounds, settled for third. Notably, Ahmed Al Musaned, who had finished third in both prior rounds, missed the podium this time, finishing in fourth place. Ahmed Al Banna rounded out the top five.
Event Format and Safety Regulations
The championship began with registration and technical scrutineering to verify that all vehicles met the required safety and technical standards. Essential checks included the installation of a roll cage, secure battery mounts, and effective seat belts, along with mandatory driver safety equipment such as racing suits and helmets.
During the competition, each driver had a single run on the track, required to execute specific maneuvers such as drifting, reverse maneuvers, figure-eight knots, and reverse spins, all within a maximum time limit of four minutes. Additional style points were awarded for the overall execution of each run, emphasizing both technical skill and artistry.
The event concluded with the top three finishers celebrated in front of a large and enthusiastic audience, marking a successful third round of the championship. The series will now take a brief hiatus before resuming for the final round at the end of April 2026.
