Rumours surrounding the postponed wedding of cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal have intensified, prompting a family member to publicly defend Muchhal. The couple was originally set to marry on November 23, 2024, but their plans were halted due to health concerns regarding Smriti’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana. Since the announcement, speculation has grown, particularly on social media.

Unverified claims alleging that Palash cheated on Smriti began circulating over the past few days. The situation escalated after an Instagram user named Mary D’Costa allegedly shared screenshots purportedly containing private conversations with Palash. These screenshots were subsequently posted on Reddit, where they gained further traction even after the user’s account was deactivated, leading to increased scrutiny of the couple’s relationship.

In response to the swirling rumours, Palash’s cousin, Neeti Tak, took to her Instagram Stories to defend him. She urged followers not to draw conclusions based on unverified information. “Palash is going through a critical condition today; you all should not judge Palash as wrong without knowing the truth,” she stated. Neeti emphasized the need for sensitivity and compassion, noting that “technology today has come much ahead of humans,” and called for prayers for her cousin.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, Palash is currently hospitalized in Mumbai. His sister, Palak Muchhal, confirmed the wedding’s postponement on social media, requesting privacy for both families during this challenging time. “Due to Smriti’s father’s health, Smriti and Palash’s wedding has been put on hold. We would request all of you to respect the privacy of the families during this sensitive time,” she wrote.

The wedding was initially scheduled to take place after Smriti’s father was rushed to Sarvhit Hospital and Medical Research Centre in Sangli due to heart attack-like symptoms on the wedding day. A day later, Palash was also admitted to a hospital in Sangli, reportedly due to the stress of the situation. Palash’s mother, Amita Muchhal, shared details of her son’s condition, explaining that the stress surrounding the wedding’s cancellation had affected his health. She recalled, “Since haldi was done, we didn’t let him go outside. Rote rote ek dum tabiyat karab ho gai. 4 ghante hospital mein rakhna padha… Sab normal aaye but stress bahut hai.”

Amita also highlighted Palash’s close relationship with Smriti’s father, indicating that he was adamant about delaying the wedding rituals until her father’s health improved. In the midst of this turmoil, fans observed that Smriti had removed all wedding-related posts from her Instagram account, further fueling speculation surrounding the couple’s relationship status.

Smriti and Palash began dating in 2019 but kept their relationship largely private until July 2024, when they publicly acknowledged their partnership by celebrating their fifth anniversary online. As both families navigate these health emergencies and the growing online chatter, they continue to appeal for privacy and understanding from the public.
