Mumbai Police have summoned Siddhanth Kapoor, the brother of Bollywood actor Shraddha Kapoor, to provide a statement in connection with a significant drug seizure case involving approximately ₹252 crore in mephedrone. Siddhanth is expected to appear before investigators on November 25, 2024, as part of an ongoing inquiry into the high-profile case.

This summons follows the recent involvement of social media influencer Orhan Awatramani, also known as Orry, who was also called to give a statement but failed to attend. Instead, he requested additional time and sent his lawyer to represent him, as reported by Hindustan Times. The names of both Siddhanth and Orry surfaced during the interrogation of Mohammed Salim Mohammed Suhail Shaikh, identified as the leading suspect in the major drug bust.

Details of the Investigation

The Ghatkopar unit of the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) recorded Shaikh’s statements following his deportation from Dubai last month. During questioning, he reportedly claimed to have organized lavish parties in Mumbai and Dubai, which were attended by prominent figures in the entertainment industry. Shaikh allegedly named several attendees, including Nora Fatehi, Shraddha Kapoor, filmmakers Abbas and Mustan, rapper Loka, Orry, and Zeeshan Siddique, a leader from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). These allegations have placed several celebrities under scrutiny by law enforcement.

Siddhanth Kapoor has not publicly commented on the recent summons. He was previously detained in Bengaluru in 2022 on charges related to drug consumption but was released shortly thereafter. Meanwhile, Orry was spotted attending a concert by rapper Travis Scott in Mumbai on November 19, just days before he was due to meet with police.

Background of the Case

The case originates from a police operation in March 2024 when authorities seized 126.14 kg of mephedrone from an illegal manufacturing facility located on a farm in Sangli district. Shaikh is believed to be the mastermind behind this operation, allegedly confessing to hosting rave parties for celebrities both in India and abroad.

As investigations continue, further statements from those summoned, including Siddhanth Kapoor and Orry, are anticipated in the coming days. The case has garnered significant media attention, raising questions about the involvement of high-profile figures in the drug trade and the implications for the Bollywood community.
