Angela Wharekura, a local resident, described the moment her mother-in-law spotted the man squatting inappropriately. “She yelled out, ‘what the hell is that guy doing?’ after seeing him ‘doing poos’ and wiping his hands on the equipment,” Wharekura recounted. This prompted her to take action.

Wharekura quickly hurried to the playground with her daughter, where she confronted the man. “I started taking photos and videos of him, and he began to get aggressive, walking towards us and saying, ‘I’m going to come over there and **** you up,’” she stated.
