Three Suspects Arrested After High-Speed Burglary Chase in Auckland

Three individuals are in custody following a burglary and subsequent high-speed chase through South and North Auckland on March 15, 2024. The incident began around 17:00 local time when police received reports of a burglary at a commercial property on Great South Road in Drury.

According to police, the three suspects allegedly fled the scene in a vehicle waiting nearby. Officers spotted the car leaving the area and signalled for it to stop. The vehicle, however, accelerated away at a high speed. Due to the reckless driving, police chose not to pursue the vehicle directly but instead tracked it from the air using the Eagle helicopter as it headed north on State Highway 1.

As the suspects continued their escape, the vehicle collided with another car on Great South Road before hitting a bus on Scott Road in Papakura. Thankfully, no injuries were reported among the individuals involved in these incidents. At various points during the chase, the vehicle was observed travelling at speeds exceeding 150% of the legal limit on the Auckland Northern Motorway.
