Speeding Driver Crashes Into Police Car in Auckland, Injuries Reported

Footage released by police shows a driver narrowly missing a pedestrian before crashing into a police patrol car in downtown Auckland. The incident occurred around 5:40 AM on Victoria Street, between Queen Street and Hobson Street. Witnesses reported seeing a badly damaged vehicle alongside the patrol car, which also sustained significant damage.

According to Auckland police, the speeding car lost control while traveling along Victoria Street. The vehicle collided with the police car at a set of traffic lights, resulting in injuries to the officers inside. One officer sustained minor injuries, while a second officer was unharmed.

Emergency services, including St John, responded to the scene and treated three individuals. One person was reported to be in serious condition, while two others suffered moderate injuries. Following the crash, a section of Victoria Street was closed to facilitate the response and investigation.
