October Delivers Exciting New Shows for TV Audiences Worldwide

October is set to be an exciting month for television viewers around the world, with a mix of new and returning series across various streaming platforms and networks. From gripping dramas to light-hearted comedies, audiences are in for a treat this fall.
Highlights of October Programming
For fans of free-to-air television, the selection is particularly appealing. Local documentary series Counting the Beat, hosted by Tāmati Rimene-Sproat, premieres on October 8. Additionally, the much-anticipated spin-off of the Real Housewives franchise, Bravo’s Love Hotel, debuts on October 7. Other notable returning series include Below Deck: Mediterranean on October 23 and Grand Designs Australia starting on October 2.
Streaming platforms are also showcasing a diverse lineup. TVNZ+ will feature the Australian legal drama The Twelve starting on October 1 and the US comedy Ghosts on October 17. New action drama Fire Country will premiere on October 18, while the docu-series An Optimist’s Guide to the Planet, hosted by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, will air on October 10.
Other platforms are following suit with exciting offerings. Neon will present Boston Blue on October 19 and the second season of George & Mandy’s First Marriage on October 17. Meanwhile, Prime Video introduces the animated comedy Hazbin Hotel on October 22, and Disney+ showcases Wizards Beyond Waverly Place and Star Wars: Visions on October 8 and October 29 respectively.
Must-See Shows to Look Forward To
Among the standout titles, The Celebrity Traitors on October 9 promises to deliver addictive reality TV. Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, this season features a diverse cast of 19 contestants, including well-known figures such as singers Charlotte Church and Paloma Faith, along with actors Celia Imrie and Mark Bonnar.
Another anticipated release is The Chair Company, arriving on October 13. This sitcom, created by former Saturday Night Live performer Tim Robinson, explores a conspiracy after an embarrassing workplace incident. The cast includes Lake Bell and Sophia Lillis.
On October 29, viewers can tune into Down Cemetery Road, an eight-episode thriller starring Ruth Wilson as Sarah Tucker, who becomes embroiled in a mystery following a house explosion in Oxford. The series is based on the novel by Mick Herron.
In the realm of crime drama, Harlan Coben’s Lazarus premieres on October 22 on Prime Video. This six-part thriller stars Sam Claflin as Joel Lazarus, who investigates a series of unsettling events linked to his father’s death.
Fans of supernatural horror will want to catch IT: Welcome to Derry launching on October 27. This prequel series explores dark events in a small Maine town, expanding on the stories from Stephen King’s original novel.
Finally, the rom-com Nobody Wants This returns on October 23 to Netflix, reuniting audiences with podcast host Joanne, played by Kristen Bell, and rabbi Noah, portrayed by Adam Brody. Their journey of merging lives and confronting differences promises to be both humorous and heartfelt.
