Qatar’s Athletics Team Shines with Four Medals in Tunis

Qatar’s athletics team achieved a remarkable performance at the 11th Arab U-18 Athletics Championship in Tunis, Tunisia, securing four additional medals on March 5, 2024. This impressive tally includes one gold, two silver, and a bronze, bringing their total medal count to five, with one day of competition remaining.
Outstanding Performances by Qatari Athletes
The highlight of the day came from Younis Al Balushi, who claimed gold in the pole vault, showcasing his exceptional skill and determination. His teammate, Abdullah Al Abdullah, also excelled in the same event, earning a silver medal and contributing to Qatar’s strong presence in athletics.
Timo Jumaa delivered a stellar performance in the 100m sprint, finishing with a time of 10.76 seconds to secure the second silver medal of the day for Qatar. In addition, Saleh Mahmoud added a bronze medal in the discus throw to his earlier achievement of winning gold in the shot put, demonstrating his versatility and talent across multiple disciplines.
Team Composition and Competition Context
The Qatari team also features other talented athletes, including Abdulrazzaq Idris and Abkar Idris, who are competing in the 400m hurdles, and Mubarak Saeed, who is participating in the 1500m race. The Arab U-18 Athletics Championship is a significant event, featuring emerging athletes from as many as 15 countries, providing a platform for young talents to showcase their abilities.
