EDMI and PLUS ES Launch Major Energy Infrastructure Partnership
EDMI, a global leader in intelligent energy solutions, has announced a significant partnership with PLUS ES, one of Australia’s foremost smart meter and energy infrastructure providers. This collaboration, revealed on December 18, 2025, aims to enhance energy infrastructure across Australia by implementing advanced grid intelligence.
The agreement marks an important milestone in the ongoing relationship between the two companies, extending their collaboration, which has already spanned a decade. Under this new contract, EDMI will continue to provide its hardware for an additional six years and extend the use of its Storm cloud intelligence platform for another 15 years. This partnership is set to introduce one of the most comprehensive deployments of edge intelligence and metering in the country.
Key Initiatives for Energy Transformation
The collaboration focuses on several critical deliverables that will modernize Australia’s energy landscape. These initiatives include improved outage management, enhanced situational awareness, and upgraded Wi-Fi connectivity. Additionally, the partnership will enhance the management of Distributed Energy Resources (DER), essential for accommodating the growing number of renewable energy sources.
By utilizing the unified operating layer of the Neos Solution, EDMI and PLUS ES aim to facilitate secure, real-time decision-making. This approach is vital for maintaining stability and intelligence across Australia’s increasingly decentralized energy networks.
The agreement aligns seamlessly with Australia’s ongoing Power of Choice reforms, which are designed to accelerate the deployment of smart meters while expanding the role of digital infrastructure in the energy transition. As the volume of smart meters rises and data becomes central to grid coordination, both organizations are committed to developing systems that are interoperable, secure, and capable of meeting the dynamic performance needs of a renewable-focused grid.
Statements from Leadership
In a statement, Brett Reid, Managing Director for the Asia-Pacific region at EDMI, emphasized the importance of this agreement. “This partnership deepens a long-standing, ten-year collaboration built on trust, capability, and a shared commitment to Australia’s energy future,” Reid noted. “The demands on Australia’s energy transition are prompting utilities to rethink how they manage renewable variability, customer engagement, and infrastructure resilience. By combining our Neos solution with PLUS ES’ operational excellence, we are laying the groundwork for a more connected and adaptive national grid.”
Rob Amphlett Lewis, Group Executive of PLUS ES, echoed Reid’s sentiments, stating, “This agreement reflects the confidence we have in our partnership with EDMI and the technology that underpins it. As the complexity of energy systems increases, we need intelligent capabilities supported by data flows and digital infrastructure. This will help ensure the energy transition is both efficient and affordable for consumers.”
The transformation of energy infrastructure comes at a critical time, with rising distributed energy sources, increasing electrification pressures, and stricter regulatory expectations. Utilities are increasingly seeking proven, data-driven solutions that facilitate a flexible and consumer-oriented grid environment.
EDMI’s core platforms, including the Neos grid intelligence solution, are specifically designed to address these challenges. These technologies enable utilities to manage renewable variability, adapt to demand-side flexibility, and mitigate the costs associated with grid expansion effectively.
The partnership between EDMI and PLUS ES represents a shared commitment to ensuring the national grid is ready for future demands. As regulatory frameworks evolve and distributed energy reshapes the energy landscape, integrating cloud-enabled intelligence, edge monitoring, and unified data platforms is crucial for delivering secure and resilient energy services.
Through their continued collaboration, EDMI and PLUS ES are establishing the digital foundations necessary for a smarter, more flexible, and sustainable energy future in Australia.
