Kiwi Star Aesha Scott Reveals Must-Haves from Mediterranean Filming

Aesha Scott, the beloved star of the reality series Below Deck Mediterranean, has shared her experiences and essentials from filming the show’s tenth season in the stunning Mediterranean. The production took place over a period of approximately six weeks, but with travel and related activities, it extended to around two months.
During a recent interview, Scott described her packing habits, admitting to a tendency to overpack for the journey. “I’m usually such a light packer, but I have to bring around 12 outfits for nine nights out, and there’s no option to repeat an outfit,” she explained. In addition to her wardrobe, Scott carries several books, stating, “I hate reading on a Kindle, so I travel with about four books. It’s absolutely ridiculous, but I’m willing to pay the price.”
Highlights from Barcelona and Favorite Ports
One of the standout moments for Scott occurred while filming in Barcelona. She was thrilled to learn that the crew was docked in the same marina as the America’s Cup. “We could see the Swiss team preparing their boat right across from where we were berthed. It was surreal,” she recalled. “On one occasion, we were right in front of a race, and I was losing my mind! No one else seemed to grasp how exciting it was.”
When discussing her favorite port stops, Scott expressed a deep affection for Antibes, where her yachting journey commenced. “Returning to Antibes is nostalgic and beautiful,” she noted. She also highlighted Capri in Italy as a vibrant destination, describing the fast ferries as an exhilarating experience.
Scott offered valuable recommendations for travelers visiting these locations. In Antibes, she suggested exploring the picturesque cobblestone streets and enjoying local cafes. “If you go to Antibes, take a train towards Monaco and get off at Eze. It’s a short hike to a hilltop village with breathtaking views of the coastline,” she added. In Capri, she encouraged visitors to take a gondola ride for stunning vistas and to indulge in the region’s wine and food culture.
Culinary Experiences and Future Adventures
Scott also reflected on the culinary delights of Barcelona. While she didn’t recall any standout meals, she appreciated the tapas style of dining, which allows for sampling a variety of small dishes. “I love snacking more than full meals, so this way of eating suits me perfectly,” she remarked. She did caution, however, about the prevalence of food poisoning in the area, sharing her own unfortunate experiences.
When asked about her travel bucket list, Scott mentioned a desire to visit Japan, Ireland, and return to Chile, where she had previously spent time as a teenager.
Scott expressed her fondness for her fellow cast members, particularly Captain Sandy. “I love Sandy so much. We share a goofy and funny relationship that viewers don’t often see on screen,” she said. Another favorite travel companion is Nathan, whose return to the show she welcomed enthusiastically.
New episodes of Below Deck Mediterranean Season 10 are available for streaming every Tuesday on Hayu and on Bravo from October 2023.
