QMMF Evaluates Drivers for Qatar National Team Selection
The Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) has successfully completed a two-day off-road shoot-out aimed at evaluating national drivers for selection to the Qatar Motorsports Academy (QMA) and the Qatar national team. This initiative emphasizes QMMF’s commitment to developing local talent for international off-road motorsport competitions.
Details of the Shoot-Out
The assessment was conducted over two days, starting on October 15, 2023, at the Academy building located at the Lusail International Circuit. Participants underwent a series of physical assessments, cognitive tests, and theoretical evaluations designed to gauge their overall capabilities.
On the second day, the evaluation moved to Sealine, where drivers faced real off-road conditions. This practical assessment focused on key skills such as driving technique, consistency, and the ability to adapt to diverse terrains across various off-road disciplines.
Participants and Evaluation Criteria
Among the ten participating drivers were notable figures such as Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Mohammed Al Marri, Abdulla Al Rabban, and Rashid Al Mohannadi. Throughout the shoot-out, QMMF placed significant emphasis on evaluating each driver’s cognitive performance, including aspects like reaction time, focus, situational awareness, and decision-making.
Drivers were tested without copilots, which highlighted their ability to navigate independently and maintain control of the vehicle under challenging conditions. This approach ensured that the assessment focused on individual skill and performance.
After the conclusion of the evaluations, the best-performing drivers will receive an invitation to join the QMA and represent the Qatar national team. Selected drivers will participate in a structured training program that includes physical preparation, cognitive development, and advanced driving skills.
QMMF’s ongoing commitment to nurturing Qatari talent is evident in its efforts to prepare national drivers for competition at the highest levels of off-road motorsport. The federation aims to provide the necessary resources and training to ensure that these drivers can excel on the international stage.
