Egypt’s U-17 World Cup Team Aims for Glory in Qatar
The Egyptian youth football team, under the guidance of coach Ahmed El Kass, is preparing to participate in the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar from November 3 to 27, 2025. El Kass has expressed that this tournament is a significant source of pride for all Arabs, emphasizing the importance of this opportunity for the region.
In statements to the press, El Kass highlighted Qatar’s successful hosting of previous major sporting events, particularly the 2022 World Cup. He noted that this growing sporting legacy further solidifies Qatar’s status as a key sports capital globally. El Kass is optimistic that the U-17 tournament will mirror the success of its predecessor, offering a vibrant experience for players and fans alike.
Egypt’s Resilience and Aspirations
Reflecting on his own experiences, El Kass, who represented Egypt in the 1990 World Cup, articulated his excitement about returning to the international stage after a lengthy absence. He believes that the current squad is well-prepared to compete vigorously, stating, “We are ready to return as strong competitors.” El Kass is confident that his team will strive to make a commendable impact during the tournament.
Egypt has not participated in the U-17 World Cup for over a decade, having last hosted the tournament in 1997, where they advanced to the quarterfinals. The current generation of youth players is eager to establish a new chapter in Egyptian football history. El Kass expressed hope for a distinguished performance that could potentially lead the team to the finals, aiming to delight Egyptian fans.
Arab Representation and Tournament Details
Egypt is among six Arab teams that have qualified for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar, joining hosts Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, and Morocco. In addition, Bahrain, Qatar, and Oman have also shown competitive spirit, finishing fourth in the tournaments held in 1989, 1991, and 1995, respectively.
The upcoming tournament will feature a total of 104 matches played over the course of 25 days, complemented by various entertainment and cultural events in designated fan zones. The opening match is set to feature hosts Qatar against Italy on November 3, with the final taking place at Khalifa International Stadium, a prominent venue that showcased matches during the 2022 World Cup.
As the tournament approaches, the Egyptian youth team is poised to make a statement on the international stage, hoping to inspire pride and excitement among their supporters throughout the Arab world.
