Coaches Emphasize Importance of the Tournament
Ilídio Vale, the coach of Qatar’s U-23 national team, underscored the significance of this tournament. “The tournament means a lot to us. Our team is developing, and our players are ready to compete with the goal of winning,” he stated during a press conference. Vale noted that this competition serves as a vital preparatory stage ahead of the upcoming Asian Cup finals in Saudi Arabia next year.
Despite facing some absences due to players joining the senior team, Vale expressed optimism. “We are motivated. It is an important opportunity to develop our players and face strong teams,” he added.
Luigi Di Biagio, the coach of Saudi Arabia’s U-23 team, commended the organization and competitive nature of the tournament. “The tournament is tough, bringing together strong teams. It provides a vital pathway for players to progress to the first team,” he commented, highlighting the high stakes involved.
Verdo Milin, who coaches Kuwait, reflected on the challenges posed by opening matches. He emphasized the need to scout young talent, stating, “Our plan is to provide a promising group for the future and discover outstanding players.”
Structure and Schedule of the Tournament
The tournament features eight teams divided into two groups. Group A comprises Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Kuwait, while Group B includes Iraq, the UAE, Oman, and Yemen. Matches are scheduled at Aspire Stadiums 1 and 2, with the final set to take place at the iconic Stadium 974 on December 16, 2025. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, leading to a highly anticipated final to determine the champion.
