Gibbston to Launch New Music Festival, The Valley, in January
A new music festival, The Valley, is set to debut on January 24, 2024, at Gibbston’s The Church Cellar Door and Cafe. The event promises to deliver a unique blend of music and lifestyle experiences, running from noon until 20:00. Produced by the renowned Ripe Events team, known for their successful Wānaka’s Ripe Festival launched in 2021, this festival is anticipated to showcase the best of what Gibbston has to offer.
Festival director Nathan White has been planning The Valley for over a year. He emphasizes that the festival aims to provide an elevated experience, highlighting the region’s exceptional music, culinary delights, stunning scenery, and vibrant atmosphere. “This isn’t just another summer gig. It’s an elevated experience in one of the most iconic spots in the country,” White stated. He expressed a long-standing desire to bring a festival to Queenstown, waiting for the right venue and timing.
Alongside world-class wines from Mount Edward and craft brews from Canyon Brewing, attendees can expect a diverse selection of food options. While White has confirmed a “monster” lineup of top-tier Kiwi musicians, he has chosen to keep their identities under wraps for the moment.
The festival is designed to accommodate a capacity of 5,000 guests, with organized site access to ensure a smooth experience. White mentioned, “We’ll operate a one-way system, so there should be no traffic holdups at all.”
Tickets for The Valley will be available for around $100, with sales commencing on September 1, 2023. This new festival is poised to become a highlight of the summer events calendar, bringing together music lovers and food enthusiasts alike in the picturesque setting of Gibbston.
