Simon Parker to Debut as Codie Taylor Celebrates 100 Tests

The New Zealand All Blacks will witness a historic match as Simon Parker makes his test debut against Argentina, while Codie Taylor celebrates his 100th test cap. Coach Scott Robertson expressed pride in Parker’s selection, highlighting his impressive performance and consistency leading up to this momentous occasion.
Robertson described Parker, who weighs 117 kg, as a “big, physical man” capable of making a significant impact on the field. Taylor, a crucial player for the All Blacks, is set to become the 14th player in the team’s history to reach the milestone of 100 test caps. He made his debut against Argentina in Christchurch in 2015 and has since participated in three World Cup campaigns, scoring 22 tries along the way.
Celebrating Milestones and Team Changes
Taylor’s achievement is particularly noteworthy as he becomes only the second hooker in All Blacks history to reach this mark, following in the footsteps of Keven Mealamu, who played 133 tests from 2002 to 2015. Robertson praised Taylor, stating, “He carries a huge amount of mana in our group, and it’s important we put out a performance that makes him and his whānau proud in his 100th test.”
In addition to these significant milestones, the All Blacks have made several adjustments to the squad. Tamaiti Williams and Wallace Sititi return to the bench after recovering from knee and ankle injuries, respectively. Lock Josh Lord joins the squad in place of Patrick Tuipulotu, who is sidelined due to a minor facial fracture. Midfielder Quinn Tupaea has also secured a spot on the bench, narrowly surpassing Timoci Tavatavanawai.
Robertson commented, “All of the players who have come into the squad have worked really hard and earned their place at training, and it’s great to have Tamaiti and Wallace back in the mix. Our bench will bring energy and impact to the battle.”
