Qatar’s Finance Minister Champions Vision 2030 at Asia Leaders Conference

During the Asia Leaders Conference in Hong Kong, HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Qatar’s Minister of Finance, inaugurated a session focused on the Qatar National Vision 2030. This gathering, organized by Goldman Sachs, convened influential decision-makers, business leaders, and investors from across Asia and beyond.
Progress on Qatar’s Economic Goals
In his opening remarks, Minister Al Kuwari highlighted the significant advancements Qatar has made in implementing its National Vision 2030. He described the Vision as a comprehensive roadmap designed to foster a diversified and sustainable economy rooted in knowledge and innovation.
Al Kuwari noted that the Qatari economy achieved robust growth in 2024, with the gross domestic product (GDP) reaching $196 billion. This growth was largely attributed to the expansion of non-hydrocarbon sectors and a notable increase in foreign direct investment, which exceeded $2.7 billion.
Emphasizing the importance of Asian partnerships, the Minister remarked that Asia constitutes a critical strategic partner for Qatar, accounting for the largest portion of the country’s trade, valued at over $80 billion annually. He expressed optimism that this figure is poised to rise, particularly due to the ongoing North Field Expansion and the anticipated increase in liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports, alongside long-term partnerships established with several Asian nations.
Future Collaborations and Initiatives
Looking ahead, Al Kuwari outlined that the next phase of cooperation with Asia will prioritize the expansion of trade opportunities. He emphasized strengthening public-private partnerships, especially in sectors such as healthcare and tourism, while also boosting investment in clean energy, digital technologies, and advanced industries.
In conclusion, the Finance Minister affirmed that Qatar is advancing with clarity, consistency, and confidence in fulfilling its national vision. He underscored the significance of cultivating international partnerships and fostering a competitive business environment as essential elements for achieving inclusive and sustainable economic growth, benefiting both Qatar and its global partners.
