Qatar’s U-21 3×3 Teams Set to Compete in European League

Qatar’s under-21 men’s and women’s 3×3 basketball teams have officially begun their campaigns in the fourth leg of the U21 European Nations League for Youth. The tournament is taking place in Debrecen, Hungary, starting today, with teams from multiple nations competing for top honors.
Competition Overview
The event features national teams from France, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Hungary, Romania, and Qatar. The Qatari delegation is led by Captain Yassin Ismail, who serves as the Director of National 3×3 Basketball Teams, alongside Coach Marco.
The men’s team, which is competing in Group 2, faces tough opponents, including Romania and the Czech Republic. Their opening match is against Romania today, followed by a matchup against the Czech Republic later in the day. The squad includes players Mohamed Hashem, Sultan Abu Issa, Bassam Hajar, and Issa Al-Attar.
On the women’s side, Qatar is also positioned in Group 2, where they will compete against Ukraine and France. They will kick off their tournament with a game against Ukraine today, and subsequently face France on the same day. The women’s lineup features Sarah Al-Maadheed, Dima Al-Jassim, Dana Suleiman, and Fatima Jamal Abdullah.
Current Standings and Previous Performance
In the current tournament standings, Qatar’s men’s team ranks second with 648.881 points, trailing behind leaders France, who have 1,002.620 points. The Czech Republic is in third place with 536.950 points, followed closely by Ukraine at 510.606 points, Hungary at 427.345 points, and Romania at 408.897 points.
The men’s side has demonstrated consistent improvement throughout the previous three legs of the tournament. They finished sixth in the first leg, fifth in the second, and achieved a strong second-place finish in the third leg, earning 175 points and marking significant progress.
Conversely, Qatar’s women’s team currently holds sixth place with 95.794 points. The Czech Republic leads the women’s rankings with 343.467 points, followed by Ukraine at 332.157 points, France at 316.872 points, Hungary at 202.482 points, and Romania at 159.865 points. The women have accumulated a total of 45 points from their participation in the earlier legs.
As the teams gear up for their matches today, both the men’s and women’s squads look to build on their performances and improve their standings in this competitive international arena.
