HBH Dayclub Expands Services with Saturday Sessions for Seniors
HBH Group, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting older adults in east Auckland, is launching Saturday sessions for its popular Dayclub program. This initiative is set to enhance the lives of seniors who require additional companionship and support during the day. Starting in September 2023, the Saturday Dayclub will offer engaging activities, nutritious meals, and a chance to foster friendships.
Established over 40 years ago, HBH Group focuses on providing a variety of services, including rest home and hospital care, independent living, and community programs. These services are designed to help seniors age well and live fulfilling lives. The Dayclub, located in Howick, has become one of the organization’s most cherished offerings, catering specifically to older individuals who reside at home but seek social interaction and assistance.
The Dayclub aims to create a vibrant environment where seniors can connect with peers, enjoy freshly prepared meals, and participate in stimulating activities. Families often express their gratitude for the peace of mind that comes from knowing their loved ones are in a safe and caring environment. As one family member expressed, “My husband would be lost without the support and friendship he receives here.” Another noted, “Mum comes home more alive and alert. It gives me strength just knowing she has been with friends and caring staff.”
With the addition of Saturday sessions, the Dayclub is poised to make weekends more enjoyable for participants. Recognizing that weekends can sometimes feel long and quiet, the program will incorporate popular activities such as singing, ukulele playing, and target bowls. These offerings are designed to bring joy and energy into the lives of attendees, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
A Dayclub carer emphasized the importance of the program, stating, “The programme is a lifesaver for me. I could not manage without it.” This sentiment highlights the significant role that Dayclub plays not just for seniors, but also for their families, providing essential support and companionship.
Expressions of interest for the Saturday Dayclub are currently open. Interested parties can contact Lorraine at 09 538 0809 for more information. This expansion reflects HBH Group’s ongoing commitment to enriching the lives of older adults in the community, ensuring they have access to vital services that promote well-being and happiness.
