Van Accident on Otago Peninsula Prompts Emergency Response

Emergency services responded to a van accident on the Otago Peninsula today, March 15, 2024. The incident occurred around 14:10 on Highcliff Rd, near the intersection with Seal Point Rd.
Crews from Fire and Emergency NZ stations in Lookout Point and St Kilda were dispatched to the scene. Fortunately, the occupants of the van were able to exit the vehicle independently. They received an initial assessment from personnel with Hato Hone St John at the location. According to a spokeswoman from Fire and Emergency NZ, no further medical treatment was necessary for the individuals involved in the accident.
The landowner of the nearby property was present at the scene, assisting with the situation. The occupants of the van were in the process of arranging a tow truck through the rental company from which the vehicle was obtained.
While the cause of the crash remains unclear, authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Emergency services managed the scene efficiently, ensuring the safety of all individuals involved.
