Christchurch Police Seek Public Assistance to Locate Missing Woman
Christchurch police are actively searching for a missing 79-year-old woman named Beryl, who was last seen in the Bishopdale area late on the afternoon of March 2, 2024. Authorities have expressed concern for her wellbeing, as Beryl has a medical condition that may require immediate attention.
In their appeal for information, police described Beryl as wearing a grey or light green hoodie along with dark blue track pants at the time of her disappearance. Family members are understandably distressed and are urging anyone with information about her whereabouts to come forward.
Public Assistance Requested
The police have encouraged the community to assist in the search. Beryl is described as being of average height and build, which may help in identifying her should someone spot her in the area.
Detective Inspector John Smith from the Christchurch Police stated, “We are doing everything we can to locate Beryl and ensure her safe return. Any information from the public could be vital in this case.”
The police have set up a dedicated hotline for tips and have been conducting searches in the local area. They are focusing on places where Beryl might have gone, including parks, shops, and public transport routes.
Family’s Plea for Help
Beryl’s family has released a statement expressing their deep concern. They described her as a loving mother and grandmother who frequently enjoys taking walks in the nearby community.
In their statement, they said, “We are desperate for any news regarding our beloved Beryl. If anyone has seen her, please contact the authorities immediately.”
As the search continues, police are prioritizing outreach efforts, including social media campaigns, to spread awareness about Beryl’s disappearance. They are hopeful that with the community’s help, they can locate her quickly.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Christchurch Police via their hotline or through local emergency services. Time is of the essence, and every piece of information could make a difference in bringing Beryl home safely.
