An Inglewood father-daughter team made a remarkable impact at the World Fitness Federation Universe Bodybuilding competition held in Kuala Lumpur over the weekend. Phil and Lahni Kuklinski, representing New Zealand alongside three other athletes from Taranaki, returned home with an impressive collection of titles from this prestigious event.
The competition featured over 400 competitors from approximately 30 countries, showcasing the best in bodybuilding talent globally. Among the standout performances, **Amber Brine** achieved the **Miss Universe Pro Figure title**, marking a significant comeback after not placing in the Universe competition three years earlier in Bali.
Phil Kuklinski, a seasoned competitor, celebrated his third Universe victory by winning the **Mr Universe Grand Master title**. This achievement came just days after he turned 65, demonstrating his enduring strength and dedication to the sport.
Lahni Kuklinski, at just 21 years old, made her international debut and excelled by securing victories in the **Miss Universe Junior Under 24 Bikini** and **Miss Universe Open Overall Bikini** categories. Her outstanding performance earned her the coveted **Universe Pro card**, making her the youngest athlete to receive this prestigious accolade. Additionally, she placed fourth in the **Miss Universe Pro Bikini** division, further solidifying her place among the elite in the sport.
Taranaki’s contingent displayed impressive performances across the board. **Chris Brine** finished in the top ten of the **Mr Universe Athletic division**, while **Jeremy Wesley** secured a top-nine finish in the **Mr Universe Masters category**.
The success of the Kuklinski family and their teammates highlights the growing recognition of New Zealand athletes on the world stage. As they continue to push boundaries and achieve personal bests, their achievements not only reflect individual talent but also the strength of community support within the sport of bodybuilding.
