Qatar National Chess Team Competes at Abu Dhabi Festival

The Qatar national chess team is actively competing in the 31st Abu Dhabi International Chess Festival, which has attracted over 3,000 players from 82 countries. This prestigious event showcases a diverse range of competitions, offering 27 different tournaments that include the Masters Tournament, Open A and B, junior events, blitz chess, and family team games.
Qatari Representation and Player Highlights
Qatar has fielded a strong contingent of 12 players participating in various categories. Notable competitors include Grandmaster Hussein Aziz, who has demonstrated remarkable performance, alongside promising young talents like Layan and Roza Al-Qassabi. These players are competing in several events, including the Masters, Open A and B, Under-16, and Blitz Chess categories.
The festival runs daily matches, with Qatari players showcasing their skills. Ghadah Al-Khulaifi has made a significant impact in the Open A category, displaying impressive strategic skill. In the junior section, Hamad Al-Kuwari has surprised many spectators with his clever gameplay, further highlighting the potential of the next generation of chess players.
Team Leadership and Future Goals
The team’s leader, Hamad Al-Tamimi, emphasized the importance of this festival in preparing the players for future international competitions.
