Doha, Qatar: The Chedi Katara Hotel & Resort has appointed two new culinary leaders, marking a significant enhancement to its dining offerings. Philippe Bossert takes on the role of Executive Chef, while Kimberly Pummer assumes the position of Pastry Chef. Their combined expertise promises to elevate the resort’s culinary experience, blending authenticity with innovation.
Philippe Bossert: A Culinary Journey of Excellence
Philippe Bossert, a Maitre Cuisinier de France, has a deep-rooted passion for cooking that began at the age of 16, inspired by his father. His culinary journey includes an early internship at the prestigious Auberge de l’Ill, where he trained under the renowned Haeberlin brothers. Chef Bossert has further honed his skills through mentorship from esteemed chefs such as Alain Ducasse and Yannick Alléno, among others.
His career spans various countries, including France, Russia, Africa, and the Maldives. Chef Bossert has prepared meals for notable figures, including Boris Becker and President Vladimir Putin. His culinary philosophy focuses on using quality ingredients and reflecting his Alsatian roots while embracing local flavors and produce in Qatar.
At The Chedi Katara, Chef Bossert aims to create a unique dining experience that harmonizes regional character with global culinary sophistication. His leadership is expected to redefine the resort’s gastronomic offerings.
Kimberly Pummer: Precision Meets Creativity
Joining Chef Bossert is Kimberly Pummer, the new Pastry Chef known for her artistic flair and technical precision. Her career began with an apprenticeship at Kaefer Berlin, where she mastered chocolate artistry and advanced pastry techniques, serving high-profile clients such as the German Parliament.
Following her apprenticeship, Chef Pummer worked at Orania.Berlin under Chef Philipp Vogel, gaining further experience and recognition. Most recently, she held leadership roles at Fauchon Paris Restaurant in Doha, where her creativity shone through in high-pressure environments.
Chef Pummer’s commitment to blending classic techniques with modern innovations positions her perfectly to enhance The Chedi Katara’s dessert offerings. Her passion for creating visually stunning and flavorful desserts is expected to captivate guests.
