Prophecy Distilling Wins Emerging Product Award at NZ Spirits Awards

Prophecy Distilling has achieved recognition at the New Zealand Spirits Awards, winning the prestigious Cue Marketing Emerging Product Award. This award highlights the distillery’s “innovative spirit and promising potential” within New Zealand’s competitive spirits industry. Established only four months ago, Prophecy operates out of a shipping container in Earnscleugh, located in the Central Otago region.
Anna Ballantine, one of the four directors at Prophecy, expressed pride in the company’s rapid progress and local roots. “As a young local business, we’re incredibly proud to see our hard work and our Central Otago roots recognised on a national stage,” she stated. This acknowledgment comes as the distillery continues to carve its niche in the market, utilizing unique ingredients and craftsmanship.
A Celebration of Innovation and Quality
The Cue Marketing Emerging Product Award celebrates new or recently launched products that exemplify exceptional innovation, strong market potential, distinctive branding, high craftsmanship, and a genuine connection to New Zealand’s unique identity. Prophecy’s victory positions it among the most exciting new distilleries shaping the future of the country’s spirits sector.
The New Zealand Spirits Awards, now in their sixth year, spotlight excellence in both local and international spirits available in Aotearoa. Judged by panels of industry experts, the awards recognize outstanding quality across various categories, with bronze, silver, gold, and double-gold medals awarded. Furthermore, the best spirits in each category receive trophies for best New Zealand and best overall.
This year, New Zealand distilleries showcased their talent, claiming nine of the thirteen trophies awarded, competing against approximately 550 international entrants. This significant achievement underscores the growing prominence of New Zealand as a notable player in the global spirits market.
As Prophecy Distilling continues to develop its brand and offerings, the award serves as a motivator, affirming their commitment to quality and innovation in the spirits industry. The recognition not only highlights the distillery’s potential but also reflects the rising standard of local distilleries in New Zealand.
