East Auckland Gains PC120 Information Session Amid Ongoing Concerns

Local residents in east Auckland have secured an additional information session regarding the proposed PC120 planning changes, which aim to increase property intensification in the area. The Auckland Council confirmed this decision after significant community demand for direct engagement from planners and clearer communication about the potential impact on local neighborhoods.

Bo Burns, the Howick Ward Councillor, has played a pivotal role in advocating for this session, which is scheduled for December 9, 2023, from 18:30 to 20:00 at the St Columba Presbyterian Church. Until now, all previous meetings about PC120 occurred outside the ward, limiting access for residents.

The topic of PC120 has sparked considerable discussion among community members, particularly regarding the scale of the proposed developments and the lack of clarity surrounding the timeline. Burns acknowledged that many locals have expressed concerns about these changes, emphasizing the importance of engaging the community in discussions about their future.

Over the past month, he has received more than 150 enquiries related to various issues, including concerns about the Pakuranga Highway, water rates, and other council services. The proposed changes to the Uniform Annual General Charge (UAGC), which have not been discussed or adjusted since 2016, are also on Burns’ agenda.
