Two Injured in Car Accident Near Waitati, Dunedin

Emergency services responded to a single-vehicle accident near Waitati, north of Dunedin, on the evening of March 15, 2024. A car left the road and rolled into a paddock on Mt Cargill Rd, close to Harvey St. The incident resulted in injuries to two occupants, who were promptly assessed by medical personnel.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand dispatched two crews from the Waitati and Willowbank stations, along with a support vehicle from Waitati. Fortunately, the occupants of the vehicle were not trapped inside, which allowed for a swift response from emergency teams.

While awaiting medical evaluation, the two individuals were transported to the Waitati Fire Station to stay dry from the rain. According to Hato Hone St John, ambulance staff assessed both patients at the station. Initial evaluations indicated that their injuries were minor, and one ambulance was dispatched to the scene.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety, especially in adverse weather conditions. Emergency responders highlighted the quick mobilization of local teams and their efficient handling of the situation, ensuring that the injured received timely care.
