Amazon’s Great Indian Festival Sees 38 Crore Visits in 48 Hours
Amazon India has reported a remarkable surge in customer engagement during its Great Indian Festival 2025, attracting an astonishing 38 crore visits within the first two days of the sale. This event, which commenced with Prime Early Access on September 22 and opened to all customers on September 23, is expected to run until the festive period of Diwali.
The e-commerce giant noted that over 70% of the visits originated from locations beyond the top nine metropolitan areas, highlighting significant demand from tier 2 and tier 3 regions. According to a report by The Hindu, Prime members in these smaller towns played a crucial role in driving substantial interest across key product categories.
In terms of logistics, Amazon managed to deliver over 30 lakh products in metropolitan cities within the first day alone. In contrast, more than 50 lakh products reached customers in tier 2 and tier 3 areas over the first two days. This impressive performance underscores the growing influence of smaller towns in the Indian e-commerce landscape.
Sales figures reveal notable trends in consumer preferences. Smartphones saw a double-digit growth, particularly in premium devices priced above ₹20,000, which recorded a 50% year-on-year increase. Additionally, premium televisions also experienced a surge, with QLED models up 23% and Mini-LED TVs increasing by 27% compared to the previous year.
The laptop segment notably thrived, with the MacBook Air M4 selling at 94 times the usual sales levels, while the Sony Home Theatre System achieved an impressive 196 times its regular sales volume. These figures illustrate a distinct shift towards premium electronic products among consumers.
On the business front, Amazon Business experienced a significant uptick, with a 6x increase in sign-ins relative to normal days, and bulk orders soaring 4.4x. Small and medium businesses (SMBs) emerged as major beneficiaries of this sales event. Amazon reported that two out of three sellers from tier 2 and tier 3 cities tripled their sales, with a record number of sellers surpassing the ₹10 lakh sales milestone during the initial days of the festival.
Saurabh Srivastava, Vice President of Amazon India, stated, “The Amazon Great Indian Festival 2025 is seeing a record-breaking start. The first 48 hours have been our biggest ever, with an unprecedented 38 crore customer visits and the highest number of Prime members shopping during Prime Early Access. We’re humbled to see strong business growth for lakhs of sellers across the country, from small businesses and local artisans to made-in-India brands. Customers can look forward to exciting deals as the Amazon Great Indian Festival continues until Diwali.”
This significant response to the Great Indian Festival indicates not only the potential for growth in e-commerce within India but also the increasing purchasing power and engagement of consumers in smaller towns. The festival’s success sets a promising tone as it progresses towards the festive season, with expectations of continued excitement and strong sales.
