Auckland’s Seascape Tower Update: Developer Clarifies Miscommunication

The developer of Auckland’s Seascape tower, Shundi Customs, has clarified recent concerns regarding the structural integrity of the project, confirming that it was not the builder, Icon, who authorized this assessment. Instead, the engineering firm Mott MacDonald played a significant role in verifying the tower’s safety. This update comes as construction progresses on the $300 million-plus, 56-level building located at 83 Customs St East, which aims to be New Zealand’s tallest residential tower.
In a statement addressing the situation, Harrison Shao, general manager of Shundi Customs, pointed to a “miscommunication” that led to confusion about the project’s timeline and structural evaluations. As the second-tallest building in Auckland after the iconic SkyTower, Seascape is poised to redefine the skyline, offering residential apartments that promise a unique urban living experience.
Construction Update and Future Outlook
While the exact completion date remains unclear, the developer has committed to keeping the public informed about the project’s progress. The Seascape tower is expected to become a landmark for the city, contributing to Auckland’s growing reputation as a vibrant urban center.
In addition to the Seascape updates, Shundi Customs has also provided insights on ongoing developments in the wider Auckland area, including projects in Parnell and Pt Chevalier. These areas are experiencing significant growth, adding to the demand for modern residential spaces.
As Auckland continues to evolve, the Seascape tower stands as a testament to the city’s ambition and architectural innovation. The developer’s commitment to transparency and communication will likely play a crucial role in maintaining public confidence as the project moves forward. With ongoing updates from Shundi Customs, stakeholders and potential residents can look forward to more information as construction advances.
