Dolly Parton, the beloved country music icon, has announced that she will not attend her 80th birthday celebration at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. While she expressed her heartfelt wishes to be present, health challenges have kept her out of the public eye recently.
Parton, who celebrates her milestone birthday on January 19, 2024, will be honored with a special concert at the Grand Ole Opry on January 17, 2024. This marks the fourth consecutive year that the venue has celebrated her birthday with a tribute concert, showcasing performances by notable artists including Lainey Wilson, Vince Gill, Rhonda Vincent, and Trannie Anderson.
In a video message shared on the Grand Ole Opry’s Instagram account, Parton conveyed her gratitude to those participating in the event. “I just wanted to say how much it means to me that you’re all coming together again this year to celebrate my big old birthday with some of my songs,” she stated. Parton reflected on her fond memories at the venue, saying, “Some of my favourite memories happened right here, onstage at the Grand Ole Opry.”
Despite her absence, Parton assured fans that she would be sending her love and support for a memorable celebration. “I wish I could be there in person, but I’ll be sending you all my love for sure, so you have the best night ever,” she added.
