New Zealand’s Ben MacDonald Reflects on MasterChef Australia Journey

After his recent elimination from the popular cooking competition, Ben MacDonald shared insights about his experience on MasterChef Australia: Back to Win. The New Zealand contestant was eliminated on Thursday, concluding his journey in fifth place, an improvement over his previous appearance in 2014 when he finished sixth.
In an interview with Varsha Anjali from the Herald, MacDonald reflected on his time in the competition, underscoring his calm demeanor both on and off-screen. “People often comment on that, and I do have quite a cool head,” he stated. Despite his composed exterior, the 47-year-old father admitted to feeling more stress than he might convey. “I take plenty of risks, calculated ones usually; I’m not reckless,” he explained.
MacDonald, who has returned to the show after nearly a decade, approached this season with a renewed perspective. His culinary journey has been marked by a series of ambitious challenges that pushed his skills to new heights. Throughout the competition, he showcased not only his cooking talents but also his ability to adapt and innovate under pressure.
Eliminated contestants often experience a whirlwind of emotions, and for MacDonald, this was no different. “It’s tough to leave, especially when you’ve invested so much time and effort,” he said. Reflecting on his growth since his last appearance, he expressed pride in his progress, feeling more accomplished than before.
The cooking competition, which has captivated audiences across Australia and New Zealand, continues to draw viewers with its mix of culinary creativity and personal stories. MacDonald’s journey serves as a reminder of the resilience and passion that define the contestants. As he moves forward, he remains optimistic about his future in the culinary world, eager to explore new opportunities and share his love for cooking.
With his experience on the show, MacDonald hopes to inspire others and perhaps return to the culinary scene in a new capacity. His journey on MasterChef Australia: Back to Win may have ended, but the lessons learned and connections made will undoubtedly shape his future endeavors.
