Al Duhail Dominates Al Arabi 8-1; Al Wakrah Stuns Al Sadd

In a stunning display, Al Duhail overwhelmed Al Arabi with a score of 8-1 during the latest fixtures of the Qatar Stars League (QSL) on October 7, 2023. Meanwhile, Al Wakrah showcased remarkable resilience by coming back from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw against the defending champions, Al Sadd.
Al Duhail’s Commanding Performance
Al Duhail’s victory at Al Thumama Stadium marked a significant moment in the season, elevating them to fifth place in the league standings with seven points. Luis Alberto and Adil Boulbina each scored two goals, leading their team to its second win of the season.
The scoring began early when Krzysztof Piatek headed in a goal in the third minute, capitalizing on a precise cross from Sultan Al Brake. Piatek later missed a penalty opportunity, shooting wide after Alberto was fouled in the box.
Despite the early setback, Al Arabi responded in the 23rd minute with a powerful left-footed strike from Pablo Sarabia, leveling the score momentarily. However, just three minutes later, an own goal by Al Hashmi Al Hussain shifted momentum back to Al Duhail.
By the 34th minute, Al Brake expanded the lead with a remarkable strike from outside the box following a corner kick. Alberto then added another goal before half-time, assisted by Boulbina, ensuring Al Duhail was firmly in control.
After the break, Al Duhail continued to dominate. Boulbina chipped the goalkeeper in the 51st minute, and Alberto scored again on the hour mark, both goals demonstrating the team’s attacking prowess. A red card for Simo Keddari in the 66th minute, upgraded from yellow after a VAR review, further hindered Al Arabi’s comeback efforts. Boulbina converted the subsequent penalty with ease.
The final blow came in the 78th minute when Benjamin Bourigeaud scored another penalty, sealing the emphatic victory for Al Duhail.
Post-match, Al Brake reflected on the game, stating, “We played a great match and regained our rhythm, especially in the first half. We controlled the game early and scored four goals. We’re ready to give everything, both locally and in continental competitions.”
Al Wakrah’s Tenacity Against Al Sadd
In another thrilling match at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, Akram Afif put Al Sadd ahead in the 17th minute, taking advantage of a defensive error. Giovani doubled the lead shortly after, demonstrating Al Sadd’s attacking strength.
Al Wakrah’s Redouane Berkane initially missed a penalty, but he quickly redeemed himself by scoring a spectacular acrobatic goal just three minutes later, bringing his team back into contention. In the 73rd minute, Berkane struck again, finishing a precise cross from Fahad Waad Al-Bayati to equalize the match.
This result leaves Al Sadd in sixth place with seven points, while Al Wakrah moves to fourth with eight points, highlighting their determination in the league.
Al Shamal and Al Gharafa Stalemate
At Khalifa International Stadium, a match between Al Shamal and Al Gharafa ended in a goalless draw. Both teams created several opportunities, yet neither could convert them into goals. Al Shamal goalkeeper Babacar Seck made a crucial save against Yacine Brahimi in the 20th minute.
Al Gharafa remains in third place with ten points, tied with Qatar SC, who have the opportunity to take the top spot if they win their match against Al Shahania later today.
