Gala Fashion Show to Boost Confidence in Teen Girls
A gala fashion show aimed at boosting the confidence of teenage girls is set to take place in Matakana on October 16, 2025. The event, titled Rotary on the Runway, is the third annual fundraiser organized by Rotary Warkworth in support of the Women’s Centre Rodney.
Taking place at The Stables Restaurant & Bar, the show will feature around 20 models of diverse shapes, sizes, genders, and ages, showcasing new-season fashion from the recently opened Orewa store Xanadu and Berlin menswear. Event convenor Cindy Bakewell emphasizes the inclusive nature of the event, stating, “We had 16 women volunteer to be models because they had so much fun last year.”
### A Night of Fashion and Fun
This year’s event promises to be a lively affair with a carefully curated playlist by DJ and actor Rob Mokaraka. Unlike traditional fashion shows with commentary focused on clothing, the music will create an upbeat atmosphere that enhances the enjoyment for both models and attendees.
“It promises to be a night of style, community, and impact,” Bakewell adds. “We can’t wait to share this exciting celebration with fellow fashion lovers.”
The evening will also include a live auction, silent auctions, and raffles. Ticket holders will enjoy a glass of Champagne and canapés upon arrival, making the experience even more delightful. Auction highlights feature exclusive travel experiences, including a luxury evening hike and dinner for two in Queenstown, valued at $1,200, and a night for two at the Park Hyatt Auckland, which includes a marina view and breakfast.
### Supporting Young Women
Proceeds from the event will benefit the WOW – Worth It! teen programme at the Rodney Women’s Centre, which aims to help girls aged 12 to 15 build confidence, self-worth, and resilience.
The gala is set to start at 17:30 and conclude around 19:30. Tickets are priced at $50 and can be purchased online at https://events.humanitix.com/rotary-on-the-runway-2025 or through direct deposit to the Rotary Charitable Trust. Attendees are encouraged to pre-arrange tickets with Bakewell by contacting her at [email protected] or calling 021 0247 0005. Limited tickets will be available at the door.
This event not only showcases fashion but also fosters community spirit and supports a vital cause in empowering young women.
