The inaugural edition of the AGCFF U-17 Gulf Cup is set to commence on September 20, 2023, in Doha, Qatar. This exciting tournament will feature youth teams from across the Gulf region, culminating in the final match on October 3, 2023.

Opening Matches and Tournament Structure

The tournament kicks off with an opening match between Iraq and Kuwait, scheduled for 18:00 at the Grand Hamad Stadium. Following this, Saudi Arabia will take on Bahrain at the Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium.

Qatar will begin its campaign on September 21, facing Yemen at Grand Hamad Stadium. The same day will see the UAE play against Oman at Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium. The tournament format includes two groups, with the top two teams from each group progressing to the knockout semi-finals on September 30.

The tournament draw, held earlier in August, positioned Qatar at the top of Group A alongside the UAE, Oman, and Yemen, while Iraq leads Group B with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Kuwait.

Ticket Sales and Expectations

In preparation for the tournament, the local organizing committee announced the commencement of ticket sales earlier this week. A total of 15 matches will be contested at both Grand Hamad and Suhaim Bin Hamad stadiums.

This championship is anticipated to showcase fierce competition among the participating teams, serving as a vital preparation for future continental and international youth events. It stands as one of the most significant youth football tournaments in the Gulf region, contributing to talent development and promoting a competitive spirit among Gulf national teams.

As the tournament unfolds, it reflects a shared vision aimed at enhancing youth football across the region, ensuring that the next generation of players receives the opportunity to shine on an international stage.
