Education Minister Addresses Errors in New Maths Resources
The Ministry of Education in New Zealand has identified and rectified a total of eighteen errors in newly released maths resources aimed at students from Years 3 to 8. The issues ranged from incorrect calculations to mislabelled terms in te reo Māori, including a significant mistake where “triangles” was incorrectly used instead of “rectangles” in one of the answers.
Education Minister Erica Stanford confirmed that upon learning of these errors, she took immediate action. She directed her ministry to address the mistakes promptly and ensure communication to schools and educational institutions that the issues had been resolved.
