Firefighters Respond to House Blaze in Riwaka, Tasman District

Firefighters responded to a significant house fire in the Tasman District town of Riwaka on the morning of October 7, 2023. Emergency services received multiple reports around 10:50 a.m. about a blaze on Dehra Doon Rd.

A shift manager from Fire and Emergency New Zealand indicated that initial responders included two fire engines and a tanker dispatched from Motueka. As the situation escalated, officials upgraded the incident to a second alarm fire. This prompted the call for additional crews from surrounding areas, including Kaiteriteri, Tasman, Mapua, and Nelson.

Upon arrival, firefighters faced a challenging scene as flames engulfed the property. The rapid response from multiple fire crews was crucial in containing the fire and preventing it from spreading to nearby structures.
