Gourmet in the Gardens Marks 10 Years of Food Truck Fun
The beloved food truck festival, Gourmet in the Gardens, is celebrating its tenth season in Hamilton, bringing together food, community, and outdoor enjoyment. Established by event organiser Tania Simpson, the festival seeks to create a space for people to connect with nature and each other, away from digital distractions.
Simpson expressed her vision for the event, stating, “I want people to get off social media and let your feet touch the grass. It’s magical to see people celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, or simply enjoying a meal together outdoors.” This intimate focus on community and nature has resonated with attendees, making the festival a staple in the local calendar.
Seasonal Offerings and Location
Held on the Rhododendron Lawn of Hamilton Gardens, the festival takes place on Sundays from November until March, weather permitting. During these months, guests can enjoy a diverse array of food trucks offering everything from gourmet burgers to artisanal desserts.
The festival’s continuation is particularly notable given the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, which forced a temporary pause in 2020. Since then, the event has returned, revitalising the local food scene and attracting both residents and visitors alike.
Community Impact
Over the years, Gourmet in the Gardens has not only highlighted Hamilton’s vibrant food truck culture but has also fostered a sense of community. Locals have embraced the opportunity to gather in a festive atmosphere, enhancing connections among friends, families, and neighbours.
As the festival approaches its tenth anniversary, it reflects the resilience of the community and the growing popularity of outdoor events that promote social interaction. Simpson’s commitment to creating a magical experience for attendees has made the festival a cherished tradition in Hamilton, inviting everyone to partake in the joy of shared meals and celebrations in nature.
Looking ahead, the organisers plan to continue expanding the festival’s offerings, ensuring that it remains a highlight of the local cultural landscape for years to come.
