Toni Street Launches Public Speaking Course to Empower New Zealanders

Toni Street, a well-known New Zealand broadcaster, is launching a public speaking course aimed at boosting confidence among Kiwis. While she appears self-assured as a host on radio and television, Street acknowledges her own struggles with self-belief. This new initiative reflects her desire to help others find their voices and gain confidence in public speaking situations.
Street, who recently turned 42, is excited about this venture, which she believes aligns perfectly with her broadcasting skills and career experiences. “It feels super-exciting,” she shared during an interview with Woman’s Day at her home in Auckland. She lives there with her husband, Matt France, and their three children, Juliette, Mackenzie, and Lachie.
The journey to establishing her own business has been a significant learning experience for Street. “I didn’t know much at all about setting up a business before this, so it’s been a big learning curve but a really cool one,” she admitted. Her aim is to create a supportive environment where participants can improve their public speaking skills, drawing on her own experiences of overcoming anxiety and self-doubt.
Street has built a successful career, hosting the popular breakfast show at Coast studio alongside colleagues Jason Reeves and Sam Wallace. Despite her public persona, she recalls instances where her confidence wavered, prompting her to dig deep and rely on her extensive experience. This duality of her public confidence and personal challenges informs her approach to teaching others.
The course will cover various aspects of public speaking, including techniques to engage an audience, manage nerves, and present ideas clearly. Street’s commitment to helping others is evident in her own life, as she balances her broadcasting career with family commitments, such as coaching her daughter Juliette’s netball team at an interschool tournament.
As she embarks on this new chapter, Street hopes to inspire others to embrace their potential and communicate effectively. With her extensive background in media and personal insights, she is poised to make a significant impact on participants seeking to enhance their public speaking abilities.
Through this initiative, Toni Street aims not only to foster confidence but also to create a community of support for individuals looking to step into the spotlight. The course is expected to resonate with many, particularly those who share similar challenges in overcoming public speaking fears.
