Al Markhiya and Al Waab Triumph in QSL Cup Matches
In a thrilling day of action at the QSL Cup, Al Markhiya and Al Waab secured crucial victories at their respective matches held on March 15, 2024. Al Markhiya defeated Lusail 2-1 at the Thani Bin Jassim Stadium, while Al Waab continued their unbeaten streak with a 2-0 win over Al Bidda at Al Shamal Stadium.
Al Markhiya Edges Lusail with Gabriel’s Brilliance
Al Markhiya’s victory was largely attributed to the outstanding performance of Lucas Gabriel, who scored both goals for his team. The match was tightly contested until the 37th minute, when Gabriel found the net to give Al Markhiya a 1-0 lead. This opening goal set the tone for the remainder of the match.
Early in the second half, Lusail equalized with a goal from Amir Rustay in the 55th minute, reigniting hopes for the team. Despite this momentum, Al Markhiya responded strongly, and Gabriel struck again in the 73rd minute, sealing the victory for his side. With this win, Al Markhiya has now accumulated a total of 10 points in the tournament, while Lusail remains at 4 points.
Al Waab Maintains Unbeaten Run Against Al Bidda
Meanwhile, Al Waab continued their impressive form, securing a 2-0 victory over Al Bidda. Both goals were scored in the second half, starting with Bahaa Faisal in the 55th minute, followed by a second from Ossenio Cesar in the 67th minute. This decisive performance helped Al Waab stretch their point tally to 12 points in the QSL Cup.
The match took a turn for Al Bidda when Javier Martines received a second yellow card and was sent off in the 65th minute, leaving his team with just ten players. Following this defeat, Al Bidda remains on 8 points in the tournament standings.
As the QSL Cup progresses, both Al Markhiya and Al Waab are demonstrating their intent to compete fiercely for the title, showcasing their skill and determination on the field.
