Mohammed Saeed Haidan Triumphs at Longines Hathab Championship
In a remarkable display of skill and speed, Mohammed Saeed Haidan emerged victorious in the Diamond Round of the Longines Hathab Championship on December 3, 2023. Held at the Qatar Equestrian Federation’s outdoor arena in Doha, Qatar, Haidan completed the course in just 32.83 seconds aboard his horse, Quick Nick. This performance secured him the top honours in the fifth round of the ninth edition of the Qatar Equestrian Tour.
Following Haidan was Saudi rider Khaled Al-Eid, who finished second with a time of 34.34 seconds on his horse, Q Line. Hamad Nasser Al-Qadi took third place, clocking in at 38.98 seconds while riding Edison. The competition showcased the exceptional talent present in the region and highlighted the growing popularity of equestrian sports.
Bronze Round and Future Riders Competitions
In the 120cm Bronze Round, Jaber Rashid Al-Amri claimed first place with a time of 44.74 seconds riding Apollon. Khaled Al-Hadi secured the second position, finishing in 46.02 seconds on Capion, while Hamad Nasser Al-Qadi achieved a commendable third place with a time of 50.79 seconds on Deep Water. The Bronze Round team event saw The Dome come out on top, followed by Ajwad and Al Adaid Al Shaqab.
The 90cm Future Riders competition also featured impressive performances. Sultan Jassim Al-Suwaidi finished first on his horse, Violet. Fahad Talal Al-Nuaimi came in second riding Croat, and Mohammed Al-Mutairi rounded out the top three aboard Baccarat.
Dressage Highlights
In dressage events, Hamad Nasser Al-Marri won the preliminary test title with a score of 68.333 points. Hajar Khan topped the Level 2 preliminary test with an impressive score of 70.000 points. Mohammed Faisal Al Marri excelled in the Junior Level 2 preliminary test, earning 68.621 points, while Michelle Grimes achieved first place in the Level 1 dressage round with a high score of 74.817 points.
The Longines Hathab Championship continues to enhance Qatar’s reputation as a centre for equestrian excellence, showcasing not only local talent but also attracting riders from across the region. Each round of the championship offers thrilling competitions that highlight the dedication and skill of both horse and rider.
