Point Wells Homes Tour Raises $80,000 for Local Hospice
More than 560 participants attended the 2025 Point Wells Homes & Gardens Tour, raising an impressive $80,000 for Harbour Hospice. The event, which took place last month, allowed ticketholders to explore twelve stunning homes and gardens within the coastal community, despite the gloomy weather.
In addition to the home tours, attendees enjoyed coffee, food stalls, and various market offerings at a designated “hospice hub” located in Point Wells Hall. The event was open to the public, inviting the wider community to engage and support the cause.
Emily Thomas, a fundraising and business development specialist at Harbour Hospice, expressed her gratitude for the turnout, emphasizing that the funds raised would significantly impact patients and families under the care of the Warkworth/Wellsford facility. “We saw lots of smiling faces and there was a real feeling of connectiveness, despite the rain,” she noted. Thomas added that the sold-out event, which had tickets available weeks in advance, reflected the strong community spirit and generosity towards Harbour Hospice.
The success of the event was made possible through the collaboration of numerous individuals and organizations. Thomas thanked the homeowners who generously opened their properties for the tour, as well as the principal partners, including Bayleys in the North and Jodi Sterling from Bayleys Matakana Coast.
Several local sponsors also played a crucial role in the event’s success. Thomas highlighted the support from Mason Containers, Rochford Landscapes, and Northland Waste Warkworth. Additionally, she acknowledged Lisa Bindon from Flora Flowers, who donated hundreds of plants and seedlings, with all proceeds from sales contributing to the fundraiser. Warkworth Butchery supported the event by donating the takings from its barbecue, while Wildly, Madly, Deeply provided complimentary floral arrangements for each open home.
“I’d like to say a very big thank you to all those who were part of the day. It takes the combined efforts of so many to bring an event like this to life,” Thomas stated. She concluded by expressing anticipation for next year’s event, hoping to replicate the community’s enthusiasm and support.
The Point Wells Homes & Gardens Tour exemplifies how local initiatives can unite communities while raising vital funds for essential services like Harbour Hospice. As the demand for hospice care continues to grow, events like this play a critical role in ensuring that families receive the support they need during challenging times.
