Queenstown Celebrates Diwali with Spectacular Cultural Festivities
On October 14, 2023, Queenstown came alive as hundreds gathered to celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights. Hosted by the Bhartiya Samaj Queenstown Charitable Trust at the Queenstown Memorial Centre, the event showcased a vibrant display of Indian culture and community spirit.
The celebration featured an impressive variety of performances, including traditional classical dances, lively Bollywood numbers, and cultural presentations by children and youth from the local community. The atmosphere was further enhanced by the aroma of authentic Indian cuisine and sweets, which delighted attendees and added to the festive spirit.
A Celebration of Diversity and Community
Special guests at the event included local MPs and community leaders, who expressed their appreciation for the Trust’s efforts in promoting cultural diversity and inclusion in the region. Mangal Behal, founder of the Bhartiya Samaj Queenstown Charitable Trust, remarked, “It was wonderful to see our community come together to celebrate Diwali and mark our 10 years of service in Queenstown. The support from our volunteers, performers, sponsors, and guests made this event truly special.”
As the evening progressed, a heartfelt message resonated with attendees, celebrating the triumph of light over darkness. This theme underscored the significance of unity and kindness within the community, reinforcing the essence of the festival.
