Firefighters received the call at 11:15 PM and arrived to find the structure fully engulfed in flames, with a small scrub fire also developing nearby.

Seven fire crews, comprising both water tankers and fire trucks, worked diligently to extinguish the fires. According to Fire and Emergency New Zealand, the bach was “totally destroyed” by the blaze. All firefighting efforts concluded by 1:48 AM on March 16, with the site secured and no further danger to nearby properties.

Three individuals received treatment at the scene for smoke inhalation. Their conditions were not disclosed, but emergency personnel confirmed that they did not require hospitalization. The local community is now left to grapple with the aftermath of the fire, as loss of property can have a profound impact on families and individuals.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and authorities are expected to conduct a thorough examination to determine how the blaze started. Residents in the area are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, especially as the warmer months approach, which can increase fire risks.
