QatarEnergy Secures Long-Term Helium Supply Deal with Messer
QatarEnergy has finalized a significant long-term sales and purchase agreement (SPA) with Messer, ensuring the supply of 100 million cubic feet per annum of high-purity helium from its advanced facilities in Ras Laffan, Qatar. This agreement marks the first direct long-term collaboration between QatarEnergy and Messer, a leading industrial gases company based in Germany.
Strategic Partnership Highlighted in Ceremony
The official signing of the SPA took place at QatarEnergy’s headquarters in Doha, hosted by His Excellency Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs and the President and CEO of QatarEnergy. The event also featured Bernd Eulitz, the Global CEO of Messer SE & Co. KGaA, along with senior executives from both organizations.
During the ceremony, Minister Al-Kaabi expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Messer is a leading global supplier of helium with a strong reputation and diverse assets. We are delighted to enter into our first direct agreement with Messer and to continue providing high-quality helium to the world through reliable partners.”
Supporting Global Industries with Helium
Minister Al-Kaabi further emphasized the significance of the agreement, noting that it highlights QatarEnergy’s commitment to delivering dependable resources from one of the world’s largest helium producers. This support is crucial for fast-growing industries that rely on helium, including sectors such as advanced technology, healthcare, and space exploration.
Helium plays a vital role in various advanced applications, including MRI scanners, semiconductor manufacturing, quantum computing, fiber optics, and space exploration. With this new agreement, QatarEnergy aims to strengthen its position in the global helium market while meeting the increasing demand for this essential resource.
This strategic partnership not only enhances QatarEnergy’s portfolio but also ensures that industries worldwide have access to high-quality helium, essential for technological advancements and innovation.
