Ben MacDonald Exits MasterChef Australia in Fifth Place

Ben MacDonald has been eliminated from MasterChef Australia: Back To Win, finishing in fifth place. The 47-year-old chef from Whangarei, now based in Auckland, faced a challenging culinary task alongside fellow contestants Laura Cassai, Jamie Fleming, and Callum Hann. The challenge required them to create a feast for the senses that could be enjoyed in just one mouthful.
The stakes were high, as the contestants aimed for a spot alongside Depinder Chhibber in the final four. Unfortunately for MacDonald, the judges found his dish “too much” compared to those produced by his competitors. Among the panel was guest judge Vaughan Mabee, an acclaimed chef from New Zealand, who provided critical feedback during the episode.
This marks the second time MacDonald has faced elimination on the show. He previously competed in season six in 2014 while residing in Brisbane and finished in sixth place. His return to the competition this season garnered attention, but ultimately, he could not secure a place in the finale.
MacDonald’s journey on MasterChef has showcased his culinary skills and passion for cooking, though he fell short in the final stages. The competition continues, with Cassai, Fleming, Hann, and Chhibber now vying for the title, which remains highly coveted among aspiring chefs.
Fans of MasterChef Australia will be eager to see how the remaining contestants perform in the upcoming challenges as they strive for culinary excellence and the prestigious title.
