Adele White Seeks Re-election to Howick Local Board
Adele White is campaigning for re-election to the Howick Local Board, representing the Howick subdivision. Known for her extensive community involvement, White has dedicated over 33 years to public service as a police officer and previously worked as a childbirth and women’s health educator. Her long-standing commitment to the community is evident in her 24 years of service on the board, formerly the Howick Community Board.
Born and raised in Howick, White has deep roots in the area, tracing her heritage back to the Fencibles, who settled there in 1847. “Howick is in my blood,” she stated, expressing her desire for the community to remain safe, well-resourced, vibrant, and welcoming for all ages. White emphasizes the importance of preserving Howick’s history and beauty while fostering a strong sense of community.
As a community leader, White actively engages with various local organizations, offering support to both established groups and new initiatives. She is involved with three community trusts, serves as a patron of Howick RSA, and is a Justice of the Peace. Her leadership approach is characterized by a commitment to listening to the needs of residents and advocating on their behalf.
In her campaign for re-election, White aims to continue her focus on responsible council spending, ensuring that rates are fairly allocated to Howick. She advocates for sourcing supplies and services from local businesses, which she believes is vital for the community’s economic health.
White highlights the need to address Howick’s aging infrastructure, especially in light of recent weather patterns that have exposed vulnerabilities across Auckland. She plans to press the Auckland Council for action on issues such as coastal erosion, which poses significant risks to the area.
Her agenda includes advocating for the enhancement of community facilities and supporting weekly rubbish collections to maintain cleanliness and safety. “I know I share with many locals the desire for a safe, clean, well-managed, up-to-date Howick,” White remarked. She envisions a thriving main street and well-maintained parks and beaches that reflect the beauty of the area.
As a popular destination, Howick attracts visitors and holds a special place for those who grew up there. White’s commitment to protecting the charm of this village resonates with many residents. Her campaign slogan encourages support for her and the #weknowhowick team in the upcoming election.
Voting for Adele White and her team will take place in March 2024.
