Kurt Capewell Returns to Warriors Lineup Against Knights

Kurt Capewell is set to make his return to the starting lineup for the Warriors as they prepare to face the Newcastle Knights on Sunday, March 10, 2024. Capewell, who recently celebrated victory with the Queensland team in the State of Origin series, will shift to the centre position following an injury to Rocco Berry. Berry sustained a dislocated shoulder during the Warriors’ recent win over the Wests Tigers and is expected to be sidelined for approximately five to six weeks.
Capewell, aged 32, was rested during last weekend’s match. His return to the Warriors comes after he played a pivotal role in Queensland’s success, helping the Maroons recover from an initial loss in the series to secure two consecutive victories against New South Wales. This experience adds significant depth to the Warriors’ roster as they head into a crucial match against the Knights.
Warriors Adjust Lineup Amid Injury Concerns
Rocco Berry’s injury marks another setback for the young player, who has struggled with hamstring issues throughout this season. With his absence, Capewell’s versatility will be key for the Warriors. Traditionally a second-rower, he has successfully played in the centre position four times this season, boasting an unbeaten record when positioned in the backline.
Head coach Andrew Webster expressed confidence in Capewell’s ability to adapt. “Kurt brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the field, especially after his recent performance in the State of Origin. We are fortunate to have him available for this match,” Webster stated.
As the Warriors prepare for the Knights, they will need to capitalize on their recent momentum. The team’s victory over the Wests Tigers has set a positive tone, and Capewell’s return could enhance their chances of continuing this streak. The upcoming game promises to be a crucial test as both teams vie for critical points in the league standings.
In summary, the Warriors are adjusting their lineup strategically as they face the Newcastle Knights. With Capewell’s experience and adaptability, the team aims to maintain their winning form and navigate the challenges posed by player injuries.
