Kmart Recalls ANKO Portable Blenders Due to Injury Risk
A significant recall has been issued for a line of portable blenders sold at Kmart, following concerns that they pose a risk of serious injury. The recall affects ANKO Portable Blenders that were available in stores from January 23, 2023, until September 2, 2023.
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) has identified a potential hazard associated with these products. According to the MBIE, if the base of the blender comes into contact with water, it may activate without the user pressing the On/Off button. This unexpected activation can lead to severe injuries, including lacerations from exposed blades.
Consumers who have purchased these blenders are urged to stop using them immediately. The MBIE recommends that users store the devices away from any water sources to mitigate the risk of accidental activation.
In light of this recall, Kmart is working to ensure that customers are informed and supported. The company plans to provide refunds for the affected products. Customers are encouraged to return the blenders to their nearest Kmart store for a full refund.
For those who have questions or require further information, Kmart has set up a customer service line to assist affected consumers. It is crucial for individuals who own these products to heed the recall notice to prevent potential injuries.
As safety is a priority, the MBIE continues to monitor the situation closely. The agency underscores the importance of consumer awareness regarding product recalls, particularly when health and safety are at stake.
